Plans to construct a Russian equivalent of Silicon Valley have been announced. Skolkovo, located close to Moscow, will join a small group of towns worldwide that sustain themselves entirely on their own energy resources. An ambitious $4.26 billion investment plan, Skolkovo hopes to attract global technology companies to Russia. Microsoft have already signed a draft agreement to set-up a centre there.
Designed with renewable sustainable energy generation in mind the town will house 15,000 residents. A completion target of 2015 has been set.
